Robot Unit!

We had fun being robots today! On Thursday we will be making a class robot to display in the lobby out of recyclables!   Today we made shape robots and sang silly robot songs.   This unit has always been a favorite of my students.

Pee Wee Camp at the Ocean!

Today we started our Ocean Unit as we became acquainted.  What a great group of children!
We did table work and drew Sea monsters!

Sea Shells were a big hit today and we listened for the ocean!

In the blocks they were very busy making a pirate ship.

Quiet book time...

Fun Gym Time!  We were tired!

Dinos Roar!

We start our Dino unit out by practicing our number formations.  Learning to trace is the first step in hand control for writing.

We used our fine motor  skills for making fossils in clay.

Some of the kids took our tangagrams and made dinosaur fossils of their own.  (Use your imagination!)
Its always wonderful to see when a child chooses the book center.  Reese loved the dinosaur poster book!

Categorizing and patterning.

Sequencing dinosaurs and playing dinosaur dominos1

Making dino "caves" in the blocks.

Reading time.

Group math learning about how many pieces can fit in a whole round piece~
Then we used the shapes to make things.  "It's like pizza, Miss Kathi!"

Art time cutting and pasting.

Math centers lacing and sorting.

My favorite time.......seeing children "read" and "tell" stories with books.

Have you been to the Mesa Museum?   They have large animated dinosaurs and a simulated rain storm, dinosaur fossils and more.  A nice cool trip would be great during this unit!
