Ducks, Plants, Butterflies, Oh My!

What a fun time of year to be learning!  We are learning about the growth cycle in many ways. Mallard duck eggs are in the incubator and we saw the breathing air pocket, veins and head in the egg!   Our sunflowers are sprouting and our butterflies are in the cocoon (pupa) stage.   The children are loving the observation and life process.   Here's a peek at all the fun!    Can you find your little ladybug in this swarm?

                                                           Tuesday/Thursday sweeties

The caterpillars have now made it to the top of the jar and have been moved to the netting.  They are spinning their cocoon and will be butterflies in approximately 1 week.  We will take them to the garden after observation time.

It was fun to hear the children under the playset pretending to be in an ant colony, deciding who was the head "worker ant".   The children carried a lot of mulch around during that recess!   Indie was in her "Cocoon".

Thursday's class is working on fine motor skills with sorting, writing and using scissors.

Can you guess what Marcus is?
And finally to end this post.... I was on the way to my car as my friends were leaving on Friday.  A quick hop in Miss Kathi's car was exciting!  What a fun job I have to get children
that excited over sitting in my car!
